Located in Montbrison, it is in the peacefulness of her own studio that Isabelle, the creative soul behind Isanime, has been bringing clay to life since 2011. A former primary school teacher, she waited until retirement to rekindle a teenage passion born in Saint-Étienne. Her encounter with potter Mariette was the real turning point in her new life: by teaching her the demanding art of throwing, Mariette opened the doors to a universe of creation with infinite possibilities.
Isabelle's work is distinguished by a constant exploration of materials, from Saint-Amand stoneware to delicate earthenware. She handcrafts vases with soft lines and creates unique wall crosses. Her signature lies in the bold combination of ceramic and recycled colored glass: crushed then melted at high temperatures, the glass settles into the heart of the stoneware to create precious and unexpected flashes of light.
Every piece that comes out of the Isanime studio's kiln tells a story of alchemy and patience. Isabelle makes her own stoneware glazes from wood ash, silica, and chalk, enjoying being surprised by the unique shades revealed by the firing.
